I had a brand new hopper that had a bad wheel bearing. I didn't know it until it started eating a tire. It was fixed under warranty but they blamed me for the tire saying I should've gotten it fixed.....I guess I was supposed to know it was bad before the tire wear started....trailer didn't even have 10k on it yet.
heavyhaulerss Thanks this. -
thanks for the replies. being new, I really thought I would be maint free for a while.got my truck in shop today for cracked windshield, when I get it back going to hook up & check every thing. fueled yesterday got 6.6 but the way I drove cost me some time too. 55-60

We have 5 of these trailers. The one we just bought in December was so out of alignment it was hard to drive for the first load. Trailer was about 10" to the shoulder. Amazing for a preimium trailer manufacturer. The cams were adjusted but almost backwards of the adjustment it should have had? Dealer paid for an alignment but should have never needed it!
I do agree with the belly boxes being in the middle. They seem like they stay in better shape there as opposed to back by the tires. -
when I picked up the trailer & the sales guy went over the warranty with me, he mentioned that the alignment was on a 6 month warranty & to keep a close eye on it & to notify them if any problems & they will fix it free. that sounded strange to me while most everything else had a 5 year warranty, I am used to my old trailer with the button pull out to adjust the brakes on the slack adjusters. how are retinours adjustment ? I have not even looked at it yet.

You adjust brakes with the button pulled out?
-
There is a style of slack adjuster that you pry a little button out and use a 5/16" wrench to adjust them. Our Fontaine flat has them. I don't like it.
-
There's a small ratchet tool available that fits those square heads and a button pry tool they make that helps make it quick and easy.
You stuff the pry tool in, then give a crank on the ratchet, back off brake and pull the button tool off and your done.
It's actually easier and faster than the clutch style slacks, imoMJ1657 Thanks this. -
I'm sorry I misunderstood, I thought he meant the button on the dash. I didn't think about Meritor slacks that you pull the button out on the slack itself. I have a tool that holds that button out and a socket to fit the 5/16 square adjuster. I like them better, there's something about the grinding noise when you back off the Gunites and Haldex that bothers me. I wish I could go back to old manual types, when I had those I never had brake adjustment problems.PeteyFixAll and MJ1657 Thank this.

Looks like I need to hit up one of the tool trucks.
