No. It won't affect you. Stay away from some of the companies that hail veterans, but are what us older guys call the lowlife companies. TMC being one of the first that come to mind. Their system is set up so that you are always strung out somewhere waiting for your hours to catch up and your ability to make real money is very limited. I also don't care at all for the BS that you'll have to put up with at their orientation and "training". Somebody put a lot of thought into it to be a good program, but I can tell you it has a lot more to do with the jerks they have running it than how it was designed. Some of the guys are actually good, but overall it's a mess. If you just have to have a nice looking black Pete, then go for it. But if you're looking for a place where they will treat you like a person and not insult you, this is not the place.

If you're near Savannah, you should check out Superior Transportation out of Charleston, I think they have a terminal in Savannah. Or you may be able to work out of Savannah. They are a good company.Birdman803 Thanks this.

Scottlav46 is right. Get your TWIC - it'll come in very handy where you live. And go ahead and get your Hazmat, Tanker and maybe the doubles while you're at it. The Haz you'll really have to study for but the others should be pretty easy. The liquid totes van loads now require tanker endorsement on your CDL. and those loads pay somewhat better since not everyone has tanker. If you get them all you'll be in a better shape to get a good job.

I would say, stay out of the PO unless you want to deal with a lot of BS...and I mean a lot. Thank God I'm outta there. My brother just barely retired with ulcers and half a brain left!
