I had some downtime and caught up on the last few pages of this thread.
Much respect to these guys in their sixties who are still getting it done. Old Iron, Truck Dad (driving at LEAST back to 1974), SaddleSore, Tripple6 (don't know your age, six, but you speak as if you were around for the good old days).
And also want to give respect on the other end to Dye Guardian, who is so young he can't even cross the border yet, and there he is, getting the job done.
You guys give me a lot of hope, and thank you for posting your experience on here.Last edited: Feb 23, 2016
passingthru69, tsavory, Dye Guardian and 7 others Thank this. -
I'm just a young buck brought up the old fashioned way. 36 years old and still 18 in the head.
tsavory, MJ1657, Lastkidpicked and 2 others Thank this. -
Chewy, I just meant that it's one thing for us middle aged guys to do it, but its quite another to see a guy in his sixties doing it without complaint.
Old Iron, reading your posts, you speak as if you are much older and more experienced.
That is meant as a compliment, by the way. -
@Lastkidpicked Kind words. This April I will have been in trucking for 48 years, started at age 15 in 1968. Thought I had done quite a bit of different things. THEN, I find this website & realize I missed all the GOOD stuff! Never hauled a blade that stretched from one county to the next, never loaded a machine on a beam, never slid across a frozen lake, never dealt with frozen tarps. I now have a huge blank spot on my resume & am left with this feeling of being "incomplete". LOL, Oh, and never hauled a load of hay! Either way like Capt. Augustus McCray said; "It's been one heck of a party" No regrets here.

Slinkies (steel) I picked up yesterday. I don't remember the last time I used steel tarps... Lumbers all the way.
And here we are today, two drops on this one. Headed for Montreal, Québec tonight, and then Saint John, New Brunswick.

@Dye Guardian are you able to use 1 tarp per trailer, or are you having to use 2?

I keep buying the dang things thinking they look good to munch on but never end up opening the bag I have extra for ya. Lol
