Over an hour and no they didn't search anybody else. I would guess a hundred trucks passed while I was there.
Well I'm done with Canada forever.

We don't do Canada after last week, it became too much of a hassle getting back for some reason. After 4 years of running into Windsor for auto parts, one driver was hassled every time by the US customs, but two weeks ago I had to run over to Canada to take my dad to see a dying cousin and they gave us a very bad time at Customs. They held us up for three hours, with searching, asking stupid questions and so on - they even asked him to prove he was a US citizen was one question that was bizarre, he has a passport and doesn't need to carry anything else. They were not too nice to me, I had a sinus infection at the time and could not pronounce the street name properly, my French is bad when I am sick, so the guy just ripped me a new butt because I didn't know where I was going.
rank Thanks this. -
Got a load from Montreal to Iowa so I set it up to cross in Port Huron, bit out of route but I figured that was my best chance for an easy crossing. I'm seriously spooked now. One last crossing and I swear that passport card is in pieces.

You'll sail right through customs.

You should be okay either at Detroit or Port Huron Ethos. Sucks that they put you thru that nonsense, all in the name of power and control. I went thru a very similar deal at Grand Portage MN one night a few years ago and got busted too. My crime? I had six oranges in the fridge with no way for the self-important assbag to determine if they were American born. Seriously. Young kid, big badge and big gun. After about 90 minutes of tearing my truck to pieces a supervisor came by, asked why I was being detained, the punk told him, and trying to hold back a huge smile the head cop told him to let me go. It's frustrating and humiliating all at once and there ain't a #### thing any of us can do about it. So much for the "war on terror"
