I guess 2 days a month I wish I was on paper for one reason or another, but manage ok on eLogs, regardless. But I sure don't miss messing with paper books, and making all those goofy lines, comments, remarks, recap addition, etc.

I can't tell you how much easier life is on eLogs ... and I fought eLogs for years and swore up and down I'd never mess with them, but reality set in, and it wasn't the end of the world after all.

They're not that big of a deal. I've used them before and thought they actually made things a tad bit easier. They just suck because they tattle on you if you go even 1 minute over on any of your clocks.

Yep. . That's true. I was running really close the other day... REALLY CLOSE!. But, I had it planned out just right. I was pulling into the hotel parking lot I scoped out 3hrs ahead via miles divided by time available with ONE minute left... I know... too close... but if I had gotten off schedule I had other options to stop 15 and 30 earlier.
Well, I hadn't been to this particular hotel in a year and a half and I missed the driveway because it's placed about 100yds before the sign and the property as it's a shared access by multi tenants.

Nowhere to turn around. Can't back up.. too dangerous.

By the time I get back, Gertrude has been yelling for 9min.

    Crap happens.

Elogs WOULD be the end of the world for me.

My logs are on laptop. And it works better then any machine will EVER do. And yes, i've done the babysitter.

    There's just NO comparison.

My company decided to take the plunge. I was switched over last week. Put in 3400 miles. Had a little less than 5 on my 70 when I got to the yard. Had to use PC after a drop kept me over my 14 one time so I could legally park.

I can honestly say it didn't make any difference, I ran 3400 on paper the week before.

If you have a very set and reliable routine every week that you never had to fudge on paper then switching to electronic won't make any difference and will save you a few minutes a day on paperwork. In fact you may find you have a little extra left on your 70 at the end of the week compared to paper since you don't have to claim an entire 15 minutes for things like Pre-trip, fueling, scaling, or anything else appropriate for line 4. If it only takes you 8 minutes to fuel that's all you get charged for since it's accurate down to the minute.

I've gotten caught on close ones and gone over a few minutes. The stupid thing screams at you but other than that life goes on. I'm not stopping if im 15 minutes away from my destination. They don't start to really throw the book at you until they catch you cheating like 2 hours or more on your logs.

Question. Isn't this technically improper use of pc? I thought using pc you could go somewhere but then had to return to place pc started. If they allowed for a short distance to the nearest truck stop or parking area after being booted off a grocery warehouse property that would really ease my whole view of the elog situation.

It can't be used to "advance" toward a load or destination. It has to be a reasonable distance. I was also "unladen". I technically didn't leave the city of Fresno, CA when I did it, so even if I was loaded, it would be ok since my log showed "Fresno" on both ends. If I had loaded in Fresno and used PC to drive to Madera or Bakersfield, that would definitely be illegal.
