Remember In 1988 , they forced truckers to take drug screens. No biggie right? "Remember drug tests back then were not nearly as accurate ".it was a huge deal back then because many people not in trucking knew what it was leading to. Our government kicked open the door and found the unions were no longer a threat to deal with. The once powerful industry couldn't hold a gun to anyone's head now. After all, Shutdown 1974 and 78 didn't work. But just to make sure it didn't happen again,,,Deregulation busted up everything and it was a free for all like outsting Sadam. "The airlines were next and we see how worked.
Trucking was an open bank vault with nobody to stop the insane taxing , fees and sensless regulations. The next test and until DEF , the $$$ scam was the CDL .
But this goes on and on.. even I can't remember all the little tidbits of things taken away in the name of SAFETY.
Who doesn't want safety, right? Your argument suddenly becomes void and you look like a murderer. And that stupid regulation or law pass so some crook on capital hill gets his name on something and looks like a hero.
Do you really think elogs and the electronic snooping "so good that even police unions are fighting to keep it out of their cars" will be the end of it? Of course not. Cameras are the next mandatory craze. I know most of you grew up on a Web cam . But in the civilized world most humans have curtains in their homes. It dosent mean they have anything to hide....they are just being human .
My 25yo Compliance lady told me If you're not doing anything wrong you don't have anything to worry about. Yeah, that sounds like a speech 1933 Germany.... the Jews had nothing to fear too.

E logs saved me from a lawsuit. Ive been driving since the early 90's. Back when we could drive 10 for every 8 off and extend our 15hr day by going off duty. Switched to e logs 1 1/2 yrs ago.
A 4 wheeler cut me off to get off an exit, lost control and flipped the car at the end of the ramp. Stopped and called state troopers. A month later i was being sued by the 4 wheeler driver's lawyer. Said and i quote " truckers are easy money because you all lie on your logbooks and once we prove that we always win" I hired my own lawyer and went to court. When their scumbag lawyer tried to prove that i "shouldn't have been there" lets see his logbooks, my lawyer quickly stated with a smile, i had an electronic on board recorder. The case was dropped and the judge ordered the plaintiff to pay all my court costs and lawyer fees.
I dont mind e logs and i certainly never expected them to get me out of a big pickle. So all you outlaws out there who run illegal logbooks and say you prefer paper logs. You're easy prey for lawyers. God forbid you're ever in such a situation. Just my .02 .Dye Guardian Thanks this. -
what's the difference?
you're there either way -

Thanks. I know each generation is different and thinks the last was out of touch. But technology has pushed it way past that. I thought I would be able to relate to these drivers in some way like the 30 year vets did me. Yeah, they shook their heads sometimes and said "he'll learn" but there is such a gap between Millennials and Baby Boomers .
It's one thing to be hard headed or strong willed, but I'm seeing something on the part with brainwashing that started in their childhood.stayinback, Dye Guardian, rocknroll81 and 1 other person Thank this. -
Ok fair enough. I just have in my mind it will show your post trip at a receiver the next day your pre trip would be a different location.
Have they given out the particulars for acceptable elogs yet? As in automatically moving to line 3 at speed x or distance y? From what I've read right now every company has determined how tight or loose the leash will be.rank Thanks this. -
You are right I think. I believe they (so called younger generation ) are being taught a dependency on government in place of self sufficiency like we were taught. (48 yrs old) I see it every day in the way they think through things, the way they talk, and the way they vote. Big disconnect with the young people in the country and everybody else. Its like their first option to solve a problem is to look to the government, you know? I'm afraid we've seen so much prosperity that the younger generations don't really know what made this country what it is. Worries me for the future. But I guess my dad probably said the same things so..

It showed "Fresno" for both. All it did was not log approximately 19 miles.
Ours automatically hits drive line after you exceed 5 mph for 60 seconds. Usually enough to make it out of a parking lot.
