Hello Rick and good luck with palmer. You seam to be well aware that you're going to have to change you're zip to get into the hiring area. So I don't I understand what your question is?

Wasn't going to do JPT, because I don't want to go through the hassle of re-licensing.
The question was, I guess - more related to: how does one deal with maintaining an address, when you aren't maintaining an actual home? I could find a friend living in a good zip. and see if I could get them to let me use their address. Not quite 100% legal though. How do "homeless drivers", deal with an address for their license?
Thanks,
Rick -
I understand from a tour video that I watched, that the Prime Terminal in Springfield, MO (and probably the other one in Pennsylvania) has a fully functional post office, complete with P. O. Boxes. You could probably get one of those and use it as your mailing address.

They do, but you can't get a box there until after you complete TNT.
I would recommend getting a PO box in a good zipcode and make that your home of record. -
They have you sign a paper saying you won't do that when you get the po box. Besides he needs the address changed before he can get hired.

All I can tell you is how I do it and that would require you taking a trip to south dakota to change your residency, and I don't you're think interested in doing that.Last edited: Feb 29, 2016

Is that all PO boxes or just the ones at Prime? I was referring to getting one locally and doing that as I knew it needed to be done prior to getting hired.nofreetime Thanks this.

If you update with anything you find out that would be great as I am almost in the same position as yourself. I do have a relative in MD that offered to let me use his address, but considering how much documentation(proof of residency, utility bills etc), is needed to change driver's license I would rather leave that as a last resort. There is also the issue of per-diem and possibly having to prove domicile at tax time.
A "home time waiver" does seem like a golden ticket, but I have yet to hear of companies offering that which is surprising as I get the impression most OTR companies would rather it if you never saw your home again.
