He must have been older with a pervious career path to have went straight to his own authority. Most 23 year old that just got there CDL sure don't have the money nor the credit for there own authority lol. What company is TTR?

I agree,.. he had to have had some kind of financial backing,.. trust fund,.. co-signer etc in order to do what he claims he did. Not calling him a liar,.. as I do not know him personally. He came across as intelligent and informed,.. so I did not question what he stated.

I actually attended a very good school...it was not ran by a trucking company and I had to pay $4500 out of pocket for my training. They did not push drivers to hire on with any specific, but we're tactfully helpful in advice and opinions of many mega companies, which sort of deterred me from starting my career with a mega or going LP. I am glad they helped lead me to the water, but they didn't make me drink. The instructors were experienced, knowledgeable, and patient... I chose a good locally owned OTR company, ran hard for about a year, then switched to LTL. Worked out quite well for me.

Did the school put you in a fully loaded truck? Did they teach you seat time or class time?

Very few schools can afford to offer real world seat time. Beyond pulling an empty van around locally for maybe an hour a day,.. typical students do not gain any real world experience.

It is the companies that they hire on with that are expected to train them.

Landline now just made the announcement on the radio.

Lease purchase programs are a RIPOFF.

And in case you didn't understand that. reread above.

They ruin your finances, your marriage, your credit. EVERYTHING.

No, the truck was empty but but I got about 80 hours class time and about 40 hours seat time, half driving in town, on rural roads and freeway, half just practicing offset, and 90 degree backing...the inspection portion of the training was practiced by students on their own time using the schools equipment before or after class. I will agree that much of what I learned was on the job with my company trainer and most on my own, but I still feel like the school helped prepare me significantly for starting a career in the field.
