Hello all,
Been away from trucking for a bit and going back into it. I'm hearing that the emission trucks are not so hot, used to run a series 60 and a Cat. Is there anyone out there that can point me in the right direction for what engine would be good nowadays.
Thanks,
Austin

Should make note of if you need epa10 compliant or not.

Yes, I think I will need epa 10 for my work.

So it has to be a def truck. They are all a crap shoot, but honestly Volvo seems to have the least problems, Detroit and cummins the new ones seem to always perform better than the previous years model... I wouldn't buy any maxxforce engine, paccar's 2nd generation mx seems to do ok.
Any of the new motors come with a gamble. There's people say they have no problems ever, some people say they're problems from day 1.RERM, Bean Jr., Cottonmouth85 and 1 other person Thank this. -
I have an EPA10 550 ISX. It started life at a fleet, and I'm sure, was mistreated.
It's been down a handful of times over the past 18 months. Once or twice left me on the side of the road. At 565,xxx it blew up.
The good: It's very responsive to the throttle, pulls like a Union Pacific locomotive and averages 6.3 - 6.6 (and I'm stretched out and never loaded light)
Overall, I'm happy with it.Austin Johnson Thanks this. -
Thanks, any info is a great help!
