I am looking at possibly buying an 08 pbilt with a isx550 Cummings. Can anyone tell me if they have any experience with this engine. My other trucks are pre emission. They said they have changed the dpf and has been well maintained records are avaliable

It's Cummins, and unless you have the need to go to California, I would stick with a Pre-Emission Tractor.
The Cummins ISX15 from 2003-2014 are garbage, alot of durability problems, plus the Regeneration System on it will instantly make your new found purchase a Shop Queen.Ac guy Thanks this. -
Had a 2007 isx no dpf just egr I hated it. Lots of problems egr valves egr coolers turbo etc etc. Have 2014 with dpf and def much better engine imo. Yet to have any major problems with the 14. Small oil leak fixed under warranty and doses valve replaced under warranty other then that it just runs down the road. Never had one with just the dpf tho.

I drove a 2010 550 great pulling motor but you will have issues with Egr valve,Egr cooler and lots of regens

EGR is not made to last forever. They last two-three years and it's done. It's just another small part that usually doesn't require much to change, and if you can't afford $1000 for it every few years, why are you in this business? Why do people see EGR valves as deal breakers? "Ohh nice truck, but has an EGR valve so I won't buy it even if it has 10 miles." I don't get it.
For the 4 years that I owned my truck, I had to replace EGR once. $900 for it. So what? Am I gonna sell my otherwise nice truck because of it? Hell, there will be another EGR failure here pretty soon. Thank God that that is the only thing that is going out on my truck. Imagine if the crankshaft or piston rod snapped. Then you would see real problems.Ac guy Thanks this. -
^ you have a solid truck with that combo 500isx backd up with a 18 rare

yeah, and 3.75 diffs sitting on 24.5 tires.

just buy it an do the egr delete problem solved

I was simply saying the 07 gave me more problems then the 14 has. I'm not scared of egr and your right it's not a huge deal to fix. I was simply stating my experience since the OP was seeking info on isx engines. I've had the signature series 600 a 07 550 and a 14 565 the one I liked the least was 07 seemed under powered however I did not like the truck that it was in so that may have a lot to do with it.
