Not sure what this thing is. It's on a 2012 reitnouer step deck. The main red air supply line runs through it on the way the the air tank. An alcohol injection thingy? No electrical to it. Has a sight guage on it with "Max drain level". If it's a water separator I've never seen one like it before. Didn't have time to really investigate it yet.

Looks like it could be some kind of water catch can of sort. Looks like a drain on the bottom?
Beyond that I have no idea.
Glad I dont have that on my trailer. I'd be taking it apart just to see what it was.

That is simply a air oiler. It adds a small amount light whieght oil into the air system not enough to contaiminate the system just enough to lubricate upstream valves or controls. They are found a lot on snow plows, refuse trucks, and roll offs. Any truck that has remote actuated controls that activate hydraulic valves is common to have one of these on it. Basically it lubricates the O-rings on the air activation side of the hydraulic spool valve. Word of warning if you get curious and decide to open it make sure the air system is empty or you will get a face full of oil lol. After re reading your post Since it is on the trailer I think your right in saying its acting as a alcohol injector it would work for that aswell. Not a bad thing to have and use in cold months.
dca Thanks this.
