@boneebone , why did you choose the Johnson Mathey ? I know another member on here that went the same route and said the difference is you don't have to get the filter cleaned/baked as often as the Hug Micro. I believe your system is better for OTR or trucks that run more miles. I average about 40 to 50k a year and it is recommended to have the micro cleaned/bake around 50k which puts me about a yearly clean. Now that you have explained how your system looks like (bulky), I'm more comfortable I went my route. I have 7" straights and my DPF, is hooked up to the straights. My right side utility box was replaced, it's just a little bit bigger but you can't tell unless I mentioned it. It looks completely factory, and the DPF sits inside it.
Going Ahead with DPF.

This is the kind of info I was hoping to get here. Sounds like the diameter is too big to fit where my stack mufflers are. I think I will just put straights on like you DAVE and run the exhaust thru one of them from under neath. Thanks DAVE and BONEEBONE. I will let Mike at Fletchers decide which DPF is right for my truck.mp4694330, boneebone and Diesel Dave Thank this.

The Johnson Mathey and Hug are both great filters, but I heard also that the Johnson Mathey is more efficient and doesn't need to be baked as often.
That's really not the reason, it's just the JM Filter required less fabricating and looks like it belongs on the truck, plus I didn't want a weed burner exhaust.
For your truck with side stacks, that's the way they would install a HUG Filter with it exiting into dual no restriction mufflers.
I would imagine a install on a Freightliner Classic would be similar or the same.
To install a HUG Filter vertically on a BOC exhaust Truck like my Volvo, it would've taken fabricating new mounts and installing isolators as the HUG Filter is a shorter, and fatter in diameter DPF then the Johnson Mathey and is also very heavy.
That would've driven the cost up considerably more.Last edited: Mar 4, 2016
Grijon and Diesel Dave Thank this. -
That's a nice and clean install, no one would ever think there was a DPF underneath your truck.mp4694330 and Diesel Dave Thank this.

So can you buy 2 compliant cheap parts trucks to just sit around and run your non compliant one?
