I am trying to convince my uncle to lease to landstar. We are teaming right now at RRTS, and have another truck a friend is driving. Been with them for 6 years but things are annoying and they keep screwing everyone over, including us.

Tell me what else I can say to make the transition over to Landstar

One thing that made my choice clear was:

At most company's there's a conflict of interest. Dispatchers who may seem to care but don't. Many don't even seem to care!
    • I like how at LS the success is at my fingertips and not a dispatcher. It's true my success also teters on the success of the brokers but LS has some real strong brokers (of course not all of them).
    • I like being able to book myself out 2-3 loads ahead and know exactly what I'll be doing for weeks sometimes. LS has a model that doesn't work for everyone, but if your willing to dispatch yourself and keep your truck up your limitation won't be in dispatchers' hands.

There's also a great network for fuel/tires/ and some parts and service.

We use TA/Petro, National fleet pricing on tires, Rush Truck provides us fleet pricing on parts and some price knocked of service.

There aren't many teams here, so if you're good at the supply and demand game, you can make some big money on the loads that have to be there yesterday.

When do settlements go out? Loads we get from brokers do we need to wait 30+ days to be paid like most do when they have their own authority?
I am tired of the days of sitting and waiting to be loaded, promised I'll be loaded Tuesday night but leave Saturday morning.

I just attended a load board webinar, with LS and im considering leasing on them
    1. they settle every week,
    2. if you're PO you get 65%
    3. if you pull yer own wagon 75%
    4. discounts on the tires
    5. discounts on the fuel
    6. they dont care about the year of your truck as long as you are DOT'ed and current on yer stuff, tags ins. maint.etc.
As far as getting loaded out promptly I think thats just the nature of the beast, sometimes you're ready to go sometimes NOPE....but go the Website and sign up for one their webinars with Sally(the recruiter) I think she will answer a lot of questions you may have and its kinda fun!

im not real hot on the % cut, but I do like picking my own loads and they encourage you to create your lane, I like to stay in Cali and do runs out to Phoenix, and when I want to visit my Brother back Home I can do that and make some scratch along the way. Its a 50/50 FOR ME... the best part is the weekly settlements. But thats just me.
    Good luck Driva!
