I saw this last year on an Australian page I'm on. Apparently over there the bicyclists do have somewhat more of right a aways but in this particular incident the we wrong. But the to me the truck driver could have taken better actions than he did.

The driver looks like he was at fault in the cam video, but guess what the bicycle still dies. It's a collision of idiots.

The fancier the bicycle clothing, the more road they think they own.

Of course the truck was at fault, but fancy dandies in tights on bikes often think they are superior to other traffic.

How is the truck at fault when the cyclist did not even look? Surely he would have seen the truck coming if he had.

The truck was in the lane to take the other road. At the last second it shot across the solid white lines. Yes, the bicyclist should have looked, but no vehicles should have been there.

Well maybe he was just trying to get past the freaking bicycles! Surely he had no room behind them to get over. Recipe for disaster.

Yeah there was a car in the left lane, even with the truck, so to get around them to the left, the truck would have had to put the bikes at more risk by swerving behind while braking. So that's great, make both the lightest and heaviest vehicles share the right lane, if you want to call a bike a vehicle. It really isn't and shouldn't be in the middle of a highway... how about roller skates, pogo sticks?

The next headline would read something like tandem bike nails pogo stickler.

Personally I'd slow way down, but then someone else would still fly by me in either direction, as they always do, so it wouldn't help all that much for the sake of cyclists. They close all the roads down for bike races, like the tour de france, because they know no amount of drugs will make them fast enough merge with traffic.

Reason for edit: I was looking at it backwards there for a minute.
