Not that it would make a difference, but no headache rack as well?
Sometimes I wonder what some drivers think they are doing driving deck. They must not understand physics.
Rather odd

About 70% of my freight is aluminum coils. I think I have hauled them from just about all locations that they are produced. I have never used straps though the eye.
WISE Muscle shoals AL they do not allow bungies front or back and watch you tarp
ALCOA Newburg,In Lancaster,PA Benndorftt,IA Knoxville,TN
Novlies Oswego,NY Warren,OH Russellville,KY (used to be Logan)
Reynolds Malvern,AR
Aleris Lewisport,KY
I am sure there are more that I can't think of right now.
The coils in question look like Aleris coils they have hard plastic edge protection in the eye. I always use felt pads over it and metal edge protectors then chains. On eye to the sky just felt pads and straps. Wise and some Alcoa want you to use two pads or double them over.
I am glad to see its a BTC truck from what I understand they are on thin ice with several of the local plants along with western express and Melton due to damage. -
I can see it now.
Brisms said, "Hey supervisor ! You see this, I'm using chains on this coil!"
Brisms continues to grab chain hook and slap supervisor across face back and forth a couple times.
Brisms asks, "Did you see my chains. Im using them."
Supervisor politley says, " Ok, we encourage chains. Here's your bol and local mental health hospital phone number."brsims Thanks this. -
I've already got the number for the local mental hospital. Number one on speeddial!Blackshack46 Thanks this.

Tell me you sent this up to that drivers safety department if they were a national fleet driver. Being that close to the tractor it could not have been too heavy. With 27k worth of securement he was clearly over securing. The lack of any padding on the coil or strapping edge pro otoh. Would not be suprised if this driver had no chains since it looks more like a converted van puller.

I didn't take this pic. I screenshot it off of Facebook. Looks more like one of our fellow O/O who more than likely got paid peanuts to haul it

They seen someone else do it so it must be ok.

Isn't this why they made these?

Or these?

Pulled plenty of aluminum out of Bettendorf Alcoa with those and never had any issues using chains. *shrug* And they always seemed to load me in that bay closest to the gate.
