Get yourself a weightlifting belt for temporary relief. If you ever watch those strongman competition, or powerlifting shows, if it can save the backs of those behemoths, it can definitely help save yours. I use it whenever I throw my back out and it definately brings some relief, but it'll feel uncomfortable at first because it's made of thick leather. You have to wear it out, like a new pair of shoes, before it feels comfortable. And I also agree with the exorcise comment as well.

Always use some kind of support, as it doesn't take much to move a disk out of alignment.

Thermocare heat wraps. They last 8 hours, and don't have that Bengay/Icy Hot menthol odor. I use them at home when I do a lot of heavy work like concrete or when I am hanging/texturing drywall. And I've tried the generic drug store brand, they don't work as good as name brand.

Hi Desi, well, if it makes you feel any better, your back will bother you for the next 30 years.
Back problems and trucking go hand in hand. Line haul, which sounds like your part-time gig is, is actually worse than unloading, as sitting in a truck is probably the worst position for a body. Stress has a lot to do with it too. ( although, there's not much you can do about that) Cushions to sit on, or in the small of your back helps, and get out often, even if it's a "walk around". Welcome to the machine, I've never heard a driver that DIDN'T have back trouble. They don't tell you that in school, though.
rachi, G13Tomcat and taxihacker66 Thank this. -
I found that I had my seat leaning back too much. I put it pretty much vertical and my back problem went away.
G13Tomcat Thanks this. -

I know my answer was brief but don't read into it more than I wrote. I didn't say you were fat. I wasn't being a dick. OTR is a sedentary lifestyle. That's reality. Exercise. It works.

I haul asphalt regional, and FB when I have to, out of season. Plenty of exercise either way, plus the many stairs at home; I'm not sedentary by no means; always working on projects at home when not driving/unloading/sleeping, etc... BMI is 24 and for my age, that's decent~ BUT . . .
My back hurts often, YET once a month to the Chrio, and those thermo-wraps mentioned above, as well as a GOOD SEAT / OR CUSHION. . . really helps. I'm twice your age, almost.
Another thing my chiro told me was PUT MY WALLET IN THE OPPOSITE BUTT POCKET to offset the way i've been sitting for the last 30 years.
^^ Silly as it sounds, it seems to help quite a bit! ^^
And then the wife's massages when I get home . . . priceless.
(Most drivers have back issues, no matter HOW you cut it/alleviate it.)
Feel better, driver~ stay safe.
