Saw this and thought it was interesting if not exactly news, that driver pay has deteriorated since deregulation. It does match a report done for the industry managers last year.

Comparing change in income, anyone's income, to the CPI and everyone is making comparatively less.
Comparing a national average for incomes to what the housing market has done in California, of all places, is well, just plain sketchy...
We sold a house in central Illinois for almost HALF its value from just 15-20 years ago... Do the same comparison to the national trend for anyone's income as compared to our example and you look awesome.
Meanwhile, I am potentionally making more in trucking in my very first year than I have made since graduating college with a BS achieved in the late 1980's... I have been able to pay off that college education, and most of my ex wife's college loans, buy a home, and raise two kids as well.
Not saying people should not strive to do better in life and make more if they earn more... But stories like that just make me laugh.
On that note, I will shut up before I irritate half of the drivers here at TTR... lol

Well, heading off the road for 7-10 days.
Wife is having surgery on her foot and will be laid up and off work for 3+ weeks while it heals. I will be home "taking care of the little lady" until her father and step mom come to help.
As mentioned by others prior in this thread, Abilene was very willing to work with me during this unplanned medical situation. One email and it was done. "Do what you need to do"
Kudos to them for working with a driver when needed. They just earned a bit more goodwill with this driver.
Still very glad I ended up here at Abilene.

Is anyone starting orientation Wednesday? Rusty just gave my old man a call and wants him there. I don't know if he will be required to do a week or two of training, but we are trying to figure out how to get him off the road from his horrible mega. His home time is supposed to start Tuesday, but they don't have a history of keeping their end of the bargain.
