I am going to look At a cascadia 2013 dd13 18 SPF 455 hp 3.55 ratio 380000 miles on it ,listed for CAD $ 79500 /USD $59500 which I am interested in buying . As it is in a different city than mine so I can't take my mechanic with me to have an expert look at , so I wld like some advice/opinions what are most definite things I should be looking at on the truck besides I am getting oil analysis . It's a trade in at a Volvo dealership n I know what company it had ran for earlier even though dealership cAnt provide maintenance reports on . So what should be the other test n reports I can pull to make sure everything is fine n dandy with the truck. Your advice/opinion will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

RustyBolt and Sktrucker89 Thank this. -
Thanks for your reply ... I was wondering if they would be able to pull a report on a truck that's in Canada as well. Cause I am a canadian. And if yes what do they all need to pull that report.thanks

Pay the mechanic to go with you, or ask him if he knows a good mechanic in that area to look at the truck.
Truck trouble adds up quick, having it looked over by a professional you trust is worth every cent.RustyBolt and Sktrucker89 Thank this. -
I asked him cuz of his busy schedule he can't make time to get on a 400 mile road trip with me but yeah I will definitely ask him if he knows any mechanic in area . Thanks

Make sure its ok to drive truck away from dealer to have it put on dino. then you can have est. of repairs needed at dif. shop than the dealer thats trying to sell it for full price?

What kind of engine issue dyno would highlight .. And you think any diesel repair shop would have a dynamometre or there's only specific places that offers dyno service

My advice is to start at one end and look over every inch of the truck. Bring a powerful flash light too. Look for loose bolts, cracked frame/suspension parts, worn air lines, damaged/repaired wiring harnesses, irregular tire wear, etc. Look it over really good for oil leaks, take it out for a good drive, get everything up to temperature, then recheck for leaks as the dealer probably steam cleaned the truck top to bottom, removing any evidence of leaks.

Oh and bring a note pad and note everything you notice wrong. You might be able to leverage it for a lower purchase price or have it fixed by them before you buy it.

Get the VIN# off of it and call the company that traded it in, they might send you their maintenance records on it.
TGUNKEL and Sktrucker89 Thank this.
