see you're local.OTR you never know how many hours you'll run from day to day.Although there was an ad on craigslist a company pays their OTR drivers by the hour. But you can't trust CL half the time.

I am paid a salary, the same amount any day I work. I work fast for the company. When the company makes money I have job security. Some others at my company don't... Regular customers know that Mikeeee does not bring a dirty trailer and I always bring a smile and original jokes to the shipping counter. I am met with smiles when other drivers are met with, let's just say, much less enthusiasm... It makes the job a lot easier and pleasurable for me and the shipper/receiver folks.

Join the Navy after highschool. Then when you get out you can go to college for free.

Not sure if it is the same now, but my BIL joined, had his college paid and worked summers with the armed forces. Then after had the option of serving a term or paying back the tuition. He got to see some really cool stuff as a mechanical engineer student during his summers. Nuclear subs, etc...

You should just go to a community college instead of a pricy trade school. You gotta find one with an automotive or diesel program/degree/associates whatever and also get a job working with what you're studying for
