    Lol

And you mean to tell me that 99.9% of the people you call tell you their customers handle the freight? Must be your smooth talk and friendly ways that butter them right up wanting to do business with you ;)

Your first mistake is getting a call list from the internet. How many times do you think the people on that list have been bothered by folks like yourself? Thousands.

You want to succeed? Make your own list, and read, read and read some more on how to sell. There's no easy way, you have to want it bad enough to work for it.

Sure there is, I don't use brokers all that much myself here lately, but when I do I find the little guys have the better paying loads.

most "customer routed" loads are for lumber or going into Canada. There is a guy that has a data base of customers (that route) and direct shippers for sale and it is reasonablely priced by states. I bought a few when I started my Freight agency several years ago and they were quite accurate....and lucrative. I do not know if I can post the company or guys info on here without getting flagged...If I knew if it counted as advertising or not I would promote my own dispatch business but I don't want to get flagged. You may be able to google "data base of shippers" to find the guy.....it is well worth the price...I even got my first one free.

There are shippers looking to move their freight (direct) every day. Most manufacturers have gotten lazy and are shipping thru 3PL's and brokers but even the ones that ship thru 3PL will usually let an o/o take it just as well...they don't care WHO takes it as long as it gets moved, is on time and doesn't take up a lot of their day in the process. If you have a shipper that you know you will use often, just call or go in and talk to the logistics manager and be honest with him (just honesty may throw him off his game enough to give you an appropriate meeting. MAKE SURE that when you do get in touch with a direct shipper that you bump up the regular lane rate you are getting from that area by another 15% to cover (part) of what the broker would be moving it for. One for your profit and two because we don't want the shipper thinking rates have dropped lol I used to HATE calling for new business but when I got the mindset that I wasn't trying to be a salesman...I was just trying to help them, my luck in getting their freight greatly improved
