don't forget your DAC report which is way more important in trucking than credit.

The horror stories I've heard is that if you leave "early" they "loose" your payments and pursue you for the FULL amount of training.

Still a year will pass quickly. Some companies seem to give more miles to trainer trucks because they work cheaper.

I started my career with CRST back in 2004. I already had my CDL:. Their were new hires that went through their training schools. CRST had them sign hire contracts to work for them for a set period of time. Don't remember if it was 6 or 12 months In orientation CRST said you would have to pay back for the schooling if you left before that time was up. They tried to get me to pay when I left after 5 months. I reminded them I did not go through their school several times. They stopped calling when I gave them my attorney's fax number and said he wanted a copy of the signed contract.

FWIW: Information for new hires. CRST had me go to their Dr. for my physical and drug test. They deducted $100 dollars from my pay for this on the 3rd week. This is illegal per HIPAA laws. The Dr. should not have released my personal information if I'm the one paying for this. He can give it to the company only if they pay for it.

Just how do you think you are scamming them? All these training companies have 100% turnover. All of them! They know full well that there is 100% chance you are out the door before the first year. Most of the contracts for repayment are around two years and most drivers are out the door before a year is up. They know fully well most people are going to default on their contract.

You have to ask yourself just what you are getting with that $4000-$7000 dollar "truck driving school contract." From what most of us see, not much. Most of those drivers trained at the mega-crap company cannot handle their #### in any respect: not driving, not trip planning, not backing, not time management.

You won't negotiate for a smaller amount. You will have your signature on a contract. They intend to hold you to it and charge you interest for late fees. This school thing is nothing but a money making scam for them.

How do you know the first year is going to suck? I had a great deal of fun my first year at a mega. Don't get me wrong, the company sucked, the pay sucked, but I knew that going in. If it is going to "suck either way" you have to ask if trucking is for you. No that is not a smart-### comment, most people that enter this profession find it is not for them. Why would you invest in a profession that you would think it will suck before your started?

What, do you think you will just leave a job at a Mega-crap company and get a good paying trucking job somewhere else with less then a years worth of experience? That does happen but let me tell you it is rare. Most in that case that leave go on to another trucking job that is the same as the one they left only now they got to pay the full freight of their training from the first. Their are good trucking jobs out there but there is no shortage of drivers applying for them. That "driver shortage" is nothing but a myth made up by the mega-crap companies that sell training.

Go right ahead friend. Sign on with a company with no intentions of living up to your end of the bargain.

"But Six, I heard the horror stories."

Someone told you a tale that made you decide against being a man and keeping your word? Terrifying.

"But Six, if they lie to me..."

WHEN they lie to you. I've never seen the job where a single lie was not told. However, the agreement is, you drive for them for a certain amount of time, and they comp your schooling AND certify your experience.

I find it amusing when someone comes in trying to find justification in defrauding their employer AFTER, its always After, the cdl is in hand. Now everything is unbearable, you miss your kids...etc. Just be honest and tell the room that you're scum. The bleeding hearts of TTR will still help you.

Triple 6, I'm sorry that reading comprehension is a challenge for you.

Who said anything about "defrauding" anyone? The contract states that if you leave employment early you owe the balance. Nothing was said about walking away and not paying anything. If I walked away, I would fulfill my end of the bargain.

Slow down and read next time before you rant.
