will I clear the overpasses. My coworker goes this route a lot and swears I'll be fine in the middle lane. Is this true?

If you're only on 278 and only 13'3 you'll be fine end to end.

Pretty sure that the shortest marked clearance is 12'2" at the Brooklyn Bridge. You need to be in the middle lane because the right lane is exit only. Brooklyn Bridge is restricted to trucks. You'll make that clearance no problem. Seen 13'6" trucks go under all the time.

Could always use the GW Bridge to the Throngs Neck Bridge. Run you right to the LIE. Always hated that BQE myself. Only at night would I use that road.

The only part of the BQE that still creeps me out is the far inside lane just past the Atlantic Ave on ramp when you're rolling underneath the overhanging part in the eastbound direction. I stay middle or even far left. That whole part through downtown is a little hair raising no matter how many times you do it. I wouldn't even go that way if I was just trying to bypass NYC to Long Island. Run GWB across to Throggs Neck. Or if you're trying to get to like JFK or Jamaica get off at Atlantic Ave and you can run that all the way across to Conduit Blvd.

when I made Jersey run I had to change to the inside lane to clear certain bridges. It couldn't have been done in the outside lane.
