Have been using the app for about a year now.
Run it on an iPad mini. At first I did not have my printer in the truck, but had no problems with that. Because the app has a live signature capability, under the DOT rules, the inspecting officer is supposed to accept it on the device. The real world, that is different. I have yet to be asked for hard copies. All the states I have been given inspections, CO twice, UT, ID, OR and WA, all have been very receptive to the app, and actually have said they also like to see it. Only once was asked if I had paper logs to back up if needed.
The printer has wifi direct and air print. I usually just use the direct mode for printing anything. Printer was like $50.00 with tax and ink at wallyworld.Alberta trucker and scottlav46 Thank this. -
I spoke to the Leduc AB scales before I started using the app, they said it was no problem as it could be zoomed in as well it could be faxed or emailed to them as well. Technically you have to be able to produce paper copies and they said just have a blank paper logbook in the truck and if your requested to provide paper copies by an officer just write out copies from what is on the app.
Officer said it would be rare for an officer to want handwritten copies as the app was easier to read and he would only want copies to support violations so an email or fax from the app at the time works.
But there is always that one guy that's will eventually insist on handwritten I guess but I would argue that in court using a due diligence defence...Dominick253 and scottlav46 Thank this. -
I tried using the app and it drove me nuts. I only am required to log maybe ten days a month due to local exemptions and /or not driving period. It was a pain keeping up with it on days not driving. Much easier on paper for me but if you are logging every day I think it would be good.
It is easy to use and go back and change things but a hassle to change multiple days at once. -
What do I look for in a printer? (The smaller the better) How do I connect to it with my Android tablet?
Any help would be coolDDlighttruck and Dominick253 Thank this. -
For you all saying you must print hard copies if asked.
Answer this
How do you print off of Qualcomm or peoplenet? The two biggest EOBR's currently around. I've used both, never have I been issued a printer nor did I bring one.
I've also never been inspected so what gives?Knucklehead, skinnyb01 and lester Thank this. -

Started using it today. Took about 15 minutes to figure it out. So far I like it. My hands are usually a little dirty from pulling wrenches so everything is a little cleaner.
