From what i know... OTR isn't the go to anymore unless you hit the jackpot with Walmart. I've just heard too many bad stories about COVENANT and they force team like 6 months last I saw. 3 people on truck is insane. The truck will never stop... Literally

A truck with two people would never have to stop either... One of our Team Couples try to run 10 on/10 off, rinse, repeat...

And Covenant is setup for teams...
That's the direction they want to go...
    Doesn't mean it's a bad company...
    (Doesn't mean it's a good company either)

I have a couple of recommendations (just an opinion.....everyone has one) You are about 3 hours from Knoxville (TN Truck Driving School) and about 3 hours from Smithfield, NC (Johnston Community College).... the truck driving program at Johnston Community College is one of the best in the US (up there with Fox Valley Tech, Central Tech, etc.) and you as a resident of NC can attend this excellent school for about $1000.......about a $6000 savings for you and your husband and one of the best schools in the US to boot. That's 8 weeks of high quality training (tons of seat time and yard skills) for a mere grand! Its a benefit of paying your state income taxes (state school) The instructors are great and you will you excel with the right attitude. your backing skills attained alone will be worth the additional time this class takes to complete. The class runs 7AM to 6PM Monday thru Friday.

After successfully completing the course and getting your CDL, you will have companies competing to get you to come to work for them as a team. Quality team companies love to hire properly educated, husband and wife teams. With CDL in hand I would contact Schneider National. They have a whole host of programs for husband and wife team training situations, that are not outlined on their website.....as they only hire from the best schools and hire only students that will not have a ton of restrictions to hamper their operations (thing like not being able to go into Canada or not being able to get a TWIC card etc.)

I am under the impression that the OP is not from NC, but we are and my wife is looking to join me later this year so I will pass along the link to JCC and the CDL Program there. Thanks.

Here's the deal with Covenant. 3 people in the truck is just for training purposes in certain situations. This husband/wife team want to train together vs. training seperately. Covenant has that program and it fills a niche in trucking. Once the training is complete, the trainer leaves the truck and then the husband/wife team have the truck to themselves.

We live in Central Illinois. One of the main reasons we are going to Tennessee for the schooling is we can finance it there which is what we are going to do. Plus I have family in East Tennessee that we can visit while we are there.
