Experienced this first hand on a trip from Minneapolis
to Ga . Passenger was completely out of his head.
Bus drivers had to stop several times to get him under control. Not an enjoyable ride , no more buses for me . -
I have to say I enjoyed the train ride. Wider seats, different class of fellow passengers, cafe car and just a better experience start to finish.
crb Thanks this. -
We have a little Greyhound station up the road at a convenience store off the bypass exit. Small community around here with a 4 man PD. They always post up there when a bus comes in. So I can imagine that you would get all types riding buss's because it's cheap and they wouldn't let some of these people on airplanes I imagine. I bet it is quite a unique job to have driving one of them..
It's just that I don't think Greyhound is a bad company because the cargo is weird.. Just sayin'Prof.Gringo and carramrod32 Thank this. -
It is no wonder people still hitch hike. Even the crazy dude that wears a sleeping bag like a ghillie suite while living on the side of the highway with 30 jugs of water outside Alamagordo doesn't want to risk greyhound. The buses need placards on account of all the blight. I saw one greyhound driver pretrip the bus. Godspeed driver! May you and your human garbage truck safely make it to Fontana.

A lot of ppl ride Greyhound because Greyhound doesn't check your i.d.. I've seen names on tickets such as Mickey Mouse and Ronald Reagan.
Lots of ppl still try to smuggle drugs on Greyhounds, even though the Police use dogs at Greyhound Stations.
There was a Border Patrol Agent in Abilene who "smelled like a dog". He could get on the bus and smell drugs and walk right to the bag that the drugs were in.
I was told there are certain prescriptions that enhance your ability to smell as well as a dog.
In Memphis, the dogs (17 yrs ago) were so bad you had to stick cocaine up their noses for them to smell it.
I remember once, Memphis P.D. started searching my bus, I told them that Little Rock P.D. already searched it and found drugs. Memphis Detective said: If Little Rock found the drugs, they're probably already back on the street by now.
I think it was in Tallulah, MS that whenever I went there, there'd be some mean looking Sheriff's Detectives (6) who would search the bus (no dogs) like they had a personal interest. They would order ppl off the bus, they would then rifle through everyones luggage.
Then one day (1997 or 1998 ) I read in the paper that 6 Talullah Deputies were arrested for stealing drugs off Greyhounds and selling the drugs. That was the same week an Arkansas Trooper was arrested for stealing $500 from a dead accident victim.Last edited: Mar 20, 2016

They checked my ID every time I've traveled on either Greyhound or Amtrak.
