Definitely don't cut your whip until after the shaft is replaced and you check the match. You might find the whip requires no cutting at all.
I must be nuts.

Did Circuitmaster cb shop go out of business upstairs in Bosselmans?

Doesn't make sense to me. Elaborate please...
They moved to Altoona, IA years ago. I bought the PC122 there.rabbiporkchop Thanks this. -
I could stick that antenna on the roof of my Chevy Tahoe and add 12 inches of shaft to it and the SWR should not change at all. I suspect it will be slightly similar on your truck as well.

Nope. It's well known that the 102 is actually a 10m antenna, and that for 11m you have extend it to 108" electrically; either with a 6" shaft, or a pot belly spring. Since these things flex enough as it is, a shaft is preferred.
I just tossed the antenna on the stud at first, and it showed 1.5 on 20. After adding 7" of shaft (closest thing I had to 6") it dropped to 1.1. -
Not to mention the fact that if you go with a 45" shaft and don't adjust the whip length you'd have to tilt it so far forward you could joust with it.

Hey volvo is there a cb shop inside pilot at Grand Island? There used to be a couple years ago but last time I was there the room upstairs that he was in was empty.
