Because saying "CA Bridge law" is easier than saying "The regulation pertaining to kingpin to axle maximum length in a tractor trailer while operating in California due to DOT and provisions of the California Toll Bridge Authority Act."Dominick253 Thanks this.

Depends on axle spacing, but your typical NW triaxle setup won't get you much more than a 10' spread axle:

Yes, Bridge law is something different. It governs how close the tandems can be, not how far apart.
