    There is no forced dispatch. We are always given the options of loads. However, all loads have to go. some when loads have to go I usually take one for the team and I'm always rewarded. Its called teamwork. Our escrow account is there usually for damages to cars but can be used for repairs. Your truck is your responsibility. Put money away

    Forgive my ignorance but..
    No forced dispatch BUT sometimes gotta take crap paying freight

    Manditory escrow
    Seems like a lot of micro managing for an owner op. I prefer to govern myself accordingly that way if I fail I only have myself to blame. I had a damage this year and tried to use my " deductible fund" and surprise they denied me. Lesson learned no longer with them

    There are always places and dealers we don't wanna go to. But I take those loads that I don't always like because I realize we are trying to work like a team. The company with the contract doesn't have the luxury of refusing to certain dealerships or places. They have to service the WHOLE contract. What some people don't understand, is that without these contracts and the companies to lease on to or subhaul from your screwed

    I would politely explain to him that(especially in times like these) having guaranteed work comes with sometimes doing loads you would rather not do but you have to keep the client happy. If he doesn't like your terms then he can kick rocks. Like another member said, nothing personal just business.

    I do agree. BUT we need to keep them accountable for their choices. To many times I've seen companies bid too low or bid on dealers far out of our usual network. And of course the rate isn't there. So why is it my job to take one for the team?
    If they have company trucks I remind them what they're there for

    #1 it all depends on what the O/O's obligations are in the lease agreement.
    #2 As the OP said, the contract with the customer must prevail. As in, the traffic has to move, otherwise the customer will find another company to move it.
    #3 If the O/O truly wants to be independent, get own authority. Otherwise, by riding on the company's authority, you take the good with the bad.

    I disagree with your assertion that company trucks are for the out of network areas. That is the exact reason I use contractors, to do the work I don't want to do with my trucks, not the other way around. Contractors are for the over flow, irregular work, I do not guarantee any contractor, even my own brother who runs for me, any amount of work. You sign a contract to haul for me you haul what I give you when I give it to you, not being an a hole, that is just business. You want full control of what you do and when you do it go find your own direct customers, we have worked 14 years building our relationships and that counts for something in my opinion.

    Yea guess I read contracts better than most. I won't sign to haul your freight and you get get full rights over my equipment. You want that hire me and make my payments. The industry isn't that bad yet that we have to bend over completely and turn this into dry vans. Realize your worth .

    If a run isn't worth firing my truck up, I won't be doing it. Just like you aren't required to keep me busy, I'm not required to run for a loss just because you don't want to lose money running your company trucks on the routes you bid too cheap. If all you want to offer are the scraps and leftovers, then I'll find somewhere else to put my truck on. I expect to turn a profit EVERY time I turn the key. Sure, sometimes things happen and the day doesn't go as planned...but if there isn't a chance to be profitable going into the day, I won't run. I'm in business to make money.

    As for the O/O afraid of breaking down, if you gave him more than just the scraps left over after all of the good paying loads were assigned to your company trucks, perhaps he'd have the money to fix his truck? Or at least have it towed home!

    If you don't respect your contractors, they won't be there when you need them.
