CAT 3406B Cam interchangeability

    Up until the 8PN there were only two cams used regardless of HP.

    You guys need to stop with the C models being all PEEC engines, that is not true. The 3ZJ and 8PN are both mechanical C models.There are also PEEC engines that are B models.

    That is not however the cam the 8PN calls for.

    Thanks for the info. I'm going to go lay eyes on the cam we pulled and see what #'s I can find on it.

    My block has a casting # of 7E9432

    The cam says 18664 100 7409 CB03

    I'll post a photo here in a moment

    That cam number does not show up in SIS, that may have been one of those odd deals where there is no direct replacement part.

    100-7409 comes up 4mg cam and c model to from what I can tell my 7fb takes a 100-7408

    No, that number returns no searches.

    The 100-7408 is the new version of the 3787, so yes it is used in quite a few engines.

    I've come across a cam listed as 1007408 100-7408 7W3797 7W3796. So I guess the 3797 and 3796 also cross?
