Are you running on the Silverado? If so how is the range and how do you like it?

Where did you mount your radio in that Chevy Tahoe?

Thank y'all very much for the replies. Some very helpful info in these. I may be traveling to Flying J in Kenly to pick up a Wilson 5000 antenna to see how that does in maybe a week's time. It is a Stinger 277 which I believe RMS'ed to around 175 watts. If I do make it to Flying J I will most likely pick up an external SWR as I know the internal meters can be off. Hopefully if I can get it looked at eventually I will be able to answer if it is 10 or 11 meter. If I do run the power to the battery and the ground to the frame i will be hoping to eliminate ignition, alternator, and other engine noise.

I got it mounted on the transmission hump in front of the consul. I got a small CD/cup holder like you would put in a pickup with a bench seat in it. Just put a small machine thread bolt on each side with a washer underneath and then a lock nut to hold tighten everything up. I will be taking it out tomorrow while I clean the pollen out of the interior. I will snag some pics of the location and the mount when I take it out if youwould like me to?

Rick, I am down south of you in Goldsboro. The only CB shop I have heard that's worth a darn, is down in Wallace, NC called TC's.

We used to have a CB shop here called the CB twenty but I think he retired.

I do know of a place called the 10-8 shop in Maysville, I don't know how good he is.

Hello everyone new member here with just a few questions. All help is very much appreciated even suggestions I am right here near exit 121 on I-95 in Wilson, NC and thought about seeing if Flying J truck stop knew any technicians. Been in contact with family that are partners in a motor comapny just outside of Charlotte, NC. Their main local CB shop closed down and now they are in search for one too. Long story short haha I have been looking for a reputable CB Shop to work on some personal radios. Just bought a radio when I was in Charlotte this past weekend. I snagged a peaked and tuned Connex SS121 Superstar 121 with a power mic. Honestly no idea what's been done to it or what mods have been done. Just installed it in a late 90's model 4dr Chevy Tahoe and it has a cigarette lighter plug for the power source but plan to switch that over to a direct power lead to the battery and a frame ground. As for antennas I have a Wilson Lil' Wil and a K40 I can use. Both magnetic mounts. Have yet to switch that truck to a solid roof mount at least until I find that just right set up I am going to keep for a bit. Don't plan on putting an amp on it. I do have an amp available but I don't see a need to add one unless someone has a reason I maybe should add one. Just don't want to kill performance by throwing a lot of power to it. The antennas I have I don't believe are really rated to handle much added power. Not to sure on the power specs so I may be completely wrong.

Overall I was just wondering if anyone may know a good shop with some reputable techs that I could rely on to work on, check out, and tune this one and maybe a couple more to come later down the line?

Also would you run a Lil' Wil or a K40 on a superstar 121?

Finally I know the SWR needs to be calibrated and the CB synced with the antenna. Any good reputable places to get that done?

Any help is greatly appreciated on these few questions. I know I'm not quite the daily semi driver but just haven't gotten very much help anywhere else except from family and this seems like a great community.
