As I understand it, on that setup you were splitting the power between the two antennas (125w per.) The 4ft francis is rated at 150w so I'm assuming the the 5.5 ft would be 200w or better.rabbiporkchop Thanks this.

Isn't that an Audio King antenna ? I ran a pair of those in the 80's on my KW COE. Thought they were the best until I bought my Wilson 1000.rabbiporkchop Thanks this.

Sorry evvy, I am laughing about this. I don't mean to offend you but I and others here are not a bunch of yahoos. You haven't heard his work from your own radio and maybe he will tune it right, but it doesn't matter, he isn't an expert.
See evvy CBs are too simple, their design has not changed in more than 45 years so they are easy to work on and they are very easy to tune properly.
There are no experts and that is a fact. By the way some of us spend thousands of dollars in equipment so we can enjoy the best out there because we are serious. -
Yet you keep alluding to some super secret friend of yours that's WAY better. But you can't tell anyone who it is.. lol.

I do that to give an example, not to say there isn't anyone but this one or that. I've used to give referrals but got tired of hearing the BS when something was told to a customer that he didn't like, like his export radio was junk.
The same goes for restaurant referrals, I got a guy at work who boasted that his favourite Chinese place was the best and I told him to go to one I go to which the owner has won many awards but when this guy went there, he was upset because his food wasn't super salty and gooey enough like his favourite place made the food.Diesel Dave Thanks this. -
I have had one come apart at the base and the second seems to be headed that direction though it has lasted longer than the first, both were 5.5ft.rabbiporkchop Thanks this.

So Evvy let me get this right, you did your own research on attennas, like a good consumer should, and at one point in time your conclusion was that the top loaded fiberglass attenna was the most effecient attenna to use for your application, but now Master Jedi Mark says you should do exactly as he recomnends ( or he might unfriend you on facebook) and shell out money for a 10k , which is 3 times the cost of a Firestick. Let me guess he sells the 10k or knows someone that does, and what happen to thinking for yourself.
-
No he doesn't sell them, he just thinks it's the best one for me after asking my truck year and make. He said he'd have a more specific recommendation once the radio is tuned and I can either order it myself or he'd have it drop shipped. Also included in his tune up package is a length of his home made coax and a grounding strap with instructions on exactly where to put it on my specific truck.
