I'll ask here since O/O's deal with percentage more.
Offered a job:
Pay is 25% off the top of every load. Enough freight to stay busy, and it's pulling hoppers and occasionally flatbed nursery loads. Their truck/trailer(s). Paper logs, fuel card etc. 1099 instead of W2.
I'm sure I'm missing stuff, but this is a start for the discussion.
Thoughts?

He means 25% of the gross pay....Its a sketchy road considering dispatchers honesty will make or break your check
SmileyMike Thanks this. -
1099 you will have to pay more taxes. If your driving their truck your really an employee I would think.
passingthru69, 12 ga, Bean Jr. and 1 other person Thank this. -
Small 6 truck operation. No dispatch, well technically. The owner and his wife, who own the trucks, get your loads for you.
1099 does pay more, but deductions help offset that and 1099 means private contractor rate for per diem so you get more on that end (already talked to my accountant). -
Market 2$ AVG....... 25% is 50CPM
market $1.5 AVG...... 25% is 37.5CPM

Are they going to show you the "actual" rate? Or show you a bogus rate?
12 ga Thanks this. -
Actual. We get to see the invoice on all loads.
-
Thats another thing to worry about.... If you can get the copies of invoices or rate confirmations emailed to you that would help the trust issue... 1/4 of it is your money
SmileyMike Thanks this.
