Since only eight out of 250 technicians from coast to coast were capable of dropping the noise floor down to stock specifications and only 2 were capable of dropping it below stock specifications the chances of a driver randomly stumbling across one of those two is about a million to one and it's quite unfortunate that your connection wishes to remain anonymous. In regards to your other question I have no idea which test you are referring to

Loves has them on sale for $25 if you want to try one out.
TheDude1969 Thanks this. -
Without putting a longer shaft underneath it it's not really worth using but it is a good place to start.
TheDude1969 and Evvy Thomas Thank this. -
I've been buying and returning antennas the last two weeks, trying them on the cobra just out of boredom to see the differences. Wilson 4 ft tunable tip, wilson 2000 trucker, francis 4ft, francis 4.5 ft. I haven't been doing many dx checks but so far the 4 ft Francis is the winner for rx even over the 4.5 ft version. But I haven't been tuning them either, the 4 ft Francis has the lowest swrs untouched.

I should add that these were all just rolling checks for a couple days at a time with no stable constant.

Hey Evvy, have you ever noticed when you drive by a truck stop and 20 people are talking at the same time that you can't understand any of them and all you hear is a bunch of squealing?
Straight Stacks Thanks this. -
Actually it's so quiet lately at truck stops that it isn't an issue. I'm sitting at a loves right now abs there hasn't been a peep in like two hours, other than the occasional trucks rolling down the road. I drove by a TA today and asked a couple times for a check and got two "it's working" but no other chatter.

But now that I think about it I suppose there's been those moments. Why?

Pretty soon you'll be hearing all of them individually at various audio levels simultaneously without the heterodyne that most people normally hear.
TheDude1969 and Evvy Thomas Thank this. -
I've noticed that on some of the skip videos I've been watching. You don't just hear the strongest signal, you hear them all but some are louder. Is that what you mean?
TheDude1969 Thanks this.
