Be careful with those.
Someone correct me if I am wrong,.. but its my understanding that people are selling existing older unlimited accounts. Which means the account is NOT in your name,.. never will be and no you can not keep your phone number. You are sending payment not to Verizon,.. but to a person who you have to trust will pay the bill.
Personally I wont do that. Not when my business depends on my phone.

Nothing you said here is wrong. I don't use it as a phone. Its just a data source to me.
-
The reason the hotspot drops while a call comes in is because of the phone. If it has both a voice and data chipset that wont happen

I have the business plan from Unlimitedville http://www.unlimitedville.com/plans
$45/month, unlimited unthrottled LTE data. Sprint network. (If Sprint has no coverage I use my Verizon phone as a hotspot, but I'm usually in Sprint areas.) -
I didn't realize folks were selling Verizon unlimited data accounts on eBay. I have two lines on my account with unlimited data. It's almost tempting to sell one, but not until the prices get higher, which they will.

Its extremely hard to actually get an unlimited plan because verizon set limits on it. You'd actually likely make more renting it out then selling it. Also means that if you need it again you can just take it back for your own ue. I'd rather buy one but since I don't meet the rules to buy one I can't.
