The best advocate for any truck driver is the individual him or her self. For now, you still have free will and a brain to make sensible decisions, as given to you by your creator. Use it.

When you are waiting for someone else to "help you", you are wasting valuable time.

I used to tell drivers that their worse enemy was what they saw every morning when they looked in the mirror. Not naming any names or carriers during the 80s and 90s I watched several large carriers cut the throats of smaller ones by undercutting almost to the point that they could not make any profit. There was one carrier that actually lost market share because they cut so many throats and out grew their ability to keep logistical control. To this day I doubt that carrier has found all their lost trailers. With all the problems within the trucking industry there is no way in hell the companies and drivers will stick together. No point in fantasizing over something that will NEVER happen.

It seems sad that the only thing we can agree on is that we disagree.

What i think the op bstrong3 is proposing is more of the lines of the Welfare asnd Rights of the Driver...

Of Course Drivers,Carriers the Government,Brokers,ATA and other Polittical Folks with Strong Agendas that Love 'control' Exist in good and Bad Ways....But What drivers do need is a form of Protection.

And i personally Feel STRONG about it.

It doesn't Matter if your'e a Company Driver, Owner-operator, or Independent

We as drivers, Go to work everyday to provide for ourselves and our families. Just Like the other 300 million other americans that wake up every morning and go to work.

Drivers, Are getting Tired, Physically ,emotionally and Mentally... Drivers are almost at the point of being Scared,To work.....

Drivers (injGeneral) Aren't asking for much...Just the ability to do their jobs to their abilities WITHOUT harassments,Threats,And every other lower class form of derailments that others do to bruise their mindsets.(Law enforcement,Brokers,Dispatchers,Etc)

Again, I strongly Feel all Drivers need a Form of representation. It's for the Long term Good of your Overall Health and well-being.......

I don't totally understand the harassment of drivers argument. I've been driving as a company driver since I got my CDL through the local community college, and have never even once been asked to violate any HOS rules. In almost 8 years now, I have been inspected by the authorities a total of 3 times, and 2 of them were just light check type inspections. I think much of the problems are what company you pick, if you get with a good company, there are not any real problems. If you are with a less reputable company I'm sure there can be issues. The biggest thing is to just do your homework and get with a company that fits your needs.
