Some being the tinkering person I am I was wondering if anyone might know where I could get broken CBs so I can take them apart and basically tinker with it.

I have experience working on Communications Equipment btw... I was a Heavy Diesel Mechanic In the Corps and the vehicles I worked on AAVs (Amphibious Assault Vehicles note profile picture) the radios we had were not meant for use in a marine (watercraft) function thus I ended up learning how to repair and maintain them. I also happen to have a degree in Cisco Networking and Linux Administration (computer networks & servers)

Plus I'd be willing to purchase the broken ones at a REASONABLE price. I will not be selling them if I manage to get them working I just want to learn!!:D

I can't ever seem to find any CB shops besides Steel Rods off of I65 in Indiana.. I'm usually running the 80 and I'm usually running at night

They were working on a 29 LX that they said just got done being "cranked up" and repaired. They were wanting 75$ for it so I said why not and picked it up just to have a spare CB since it was cheaper than the 29 LX I have now... I paid sticker price for mine lol

Howard (H&S electronics) I65 exit #240 is usually in his shop past midnight. Call him on Ch#17 if not #19

Unfortunately Howard Is a much better tech than SteelRod and probably doesn't have too many broken radios laying around

There are a lot of places to get CB's broken or otherwise.

Now you got to promise me you won't share this with anyone, I mean anyone because if you do, my sources will just dry up quickly and I won't be able to corner the market.

    So promise....

    OK?

    OK!.

Here are my secret places -

Garage sales (nothing like getting some good stuff for cheap)

Estate sales especially those who used to "fix them" to think they had magic screwdrivers. I gotten rare and rather unique radios from these sales but most of the time these have been long forgotten stuck on a shelf in the garage radios for $5.

These others require a bit of patients -

eBay, got lots of package deals off of eBay. I watched one auction a few years back that had 24 radios in it and not one bid, I got the package for a buck and shipping ($25). Out of those 24, 5 were toast and the rest were good.

Facebook - as much as I hate it, it serves a purpose. It doesn't hurt to ask or post something on the CB for sale groups.

Yahoo Groups - there are places there for trading and selling radios.

Hope that helps and remember do not tell anyone, it is a very important secret.

    Sham3R and TheDude1969 Thank this.
