I would have liked sat tv when I was OTR, especially on a reset or waiting around at a shipper/receiver.
Canned Spam Thanks this. -
Good for TransAm. I wonder when they will install backrub machines? I'm all for comfort items, but all this equipment to me is just one more thing to go wrong and to be taken care of. I would hate to get a tractor after a driver was either fired or quit in anger and damaged it all. Give me a good tractor that runs a good APU and inverter, good detention pay and health insurance and a cents per mile I can live on.
-
I'd trade in that box and TV in a heartbeat for +$0.10 on the mile. But that's not how the game is played.

Wonder when they started hauling hazmat? They didn't when I was there. And all this extra stuff they're putting in. ..... would rather see them push driver pay up.
-
They are not spending much for direct tv, I'm guessing about 30$/month per vehicle fleetwide. Volume discounts are worth a lot in any service industry. Apu will pay for itself over a few years, and will add a couple grand to the resell price. Driver pay only increases when recruiters can't maintain a pool.

All the major companies should have APU or EPUs. What are you supposed to do when it's 100 degrees and high humidity in a state where idling isn't allowed?
-
I thought most bottom feeder companies had APU's. Without paying decent money to the drivers that's about the only way they could keep drivers is to make sure they are comfortable.

Geese, after putting in an application for Trans Am, I found out they pay only .32 cents a mile even though
I told them I have over two years experience and a clean record. I said I`m retracting my appl. and the lady said to me in an arrogant tone, "Well we`re not in competition to find company drivers". I did the math, with my experience I should be getting around .40 to .43 cents a mile. that`s a difference of almost $840 a month. See ya, have a NICE day. -
Where is @crankyyankee on this subject?
