Buy a tire inflator hose. Hooks up to your glad hands. & buy a pressure checker. Costs money at first but it will save you lots of unneeded headaches.

Buying a inflator hose is great advice, except if you need 120 lbs inside the tire, your air compressor usually only pumps to 120 so while you certainly can add air to a low tire, chances are you won't get the tire to 120 lbs.

To what end? It is not illegal to have stuff like nyquil with alcohol in it, so long as you aren't using it while driving or before driving.

Thull. GET a tire pressure gauge. You can thump em' but..........................you see what can happen. I'll bet 90% of trailers sitting out there have low tires. Most drivers just hook up, thump and go. Take the extra 10 minutes and check them. Check your tractor tires with a gauge once per week.

"If" 120 is correct, and since the inspector stated he could put him out of service for it then one would have to go with the out of service criteria which is 50%. Since the OP stated he was 4 psi low the the pressure would have been 56psi or lower. Driver should have seen that. As someone stated in another post, the inspector is not to put a gauge on a tire unless there is evidence that the tire is underinflated, and when one is that low, it is very observable.

Yes they can. Oregon lists their exceptions to federal safety regulations. Tire pressure is not listed.

 

It's a money grab, WA & OR write their own rules. No alcohol allowed in the truck without a BOL. I agree, it's stupid, but give a low IQ person a badge & gun and in their mind they're now CIA operatives and former Navy Seal/Delta Force assassins.
