i dont think rolling coal orignal post was asking about owner operators. i think it was asking if you had ran a business where you were obligated to pay people in some shape form or fashion. whether it be employees or owner ops or contractors. paying people is paying people. i have been self employed since 1989 after driving 10 years for companies, beginning in 1991 to 2008 i had employees and owner operators , and trade contractors, vendors etc. i was obligated to pay. at one point we had 2 company drivers, 6 owner ops , contract crews and up to 20 company employees. we were in mobile and modular housing setup and transport , and licensed in 6 southern states for modular construction and mobile home set up, and also licensed as a contractor to build all the accessories. the housing crash brought things a halt, the modular and manufactured plants closed , no financing and things died. i hung on until every last person decided to retire or found other work. but during the worst of it , i never was late paying anyone. to be sure it wasnt easy, several times it meant short term loans at the bank. but i never missed payroll or settlements. mainly because all the equipment was paid for, i had miniscule personal debt. and even had one customer not pay 19,000 before they closed and another not pay 14,000 before they closed . i had collected those amounts in building material though from those warehouses and used it just about all to build my son a house during 2009. of course that meant i was last in line. but i never missed a payday for anyone other than myself. it might be why now when i go to my local shop for work, i somehow get worked in quickly, cause i pay and dont let the guy do the work and then ask for credit, it happens.

so yes , heres one who has. thats not a commentary on the situation but a response to question asked. this is a tough situation, but that mj made a post relevant to all this, it sort of a live by the sword , die by the sword deal.

as mj said , this site was used freely posted on the talk the place up, speak of awards etc, f2f was a social media great white shark, social media helped fuel the growth, build the reputation, etc etc. so it isnt surprising social media is being used to now comment on the troubles. its like a race, people like to see the wrecks as much as the racing. the knife cuts both ways on social media.

a few weeks late at the most?? and just think at mercer we get paid load by load and guys gripe if they send in paperwork at 8 am they dont get paid until 2 pm, lol their policy is within 8 working hours of receipt of paperwork by phone app, transflo or tripak, today i was paid in 1 hour and 30 minutes. could you imagine the posting on this site if mercer ever pair a few weeks late, or landstar, or in fact any other large outfit, fact is it would vicious to say the least. folks not paying is the reason why to this day, i take every dime of any advance available, its that much less of my money some one else has. old habit

Sounds like a tough way to expect to run a business. Maybe they should consider driving as a company driver for a bit until they get their base a bit more stable.

    It's called Aged Receivables...

Every company I ever worked for in the business office side of life always had "due upon receipt" printed on their invoices... And yet we always had people, and other businesses, that were out 30, 60, 90, 120 days or more....

Is it an issue? Yes! It's also a fact of doing business that some of your receipts will run out many many many days... Fact of Life.

So goes every business that is in business.

Mac are you saying that if I had unlimited resources and don't live check to check I should be ok with late/slow/delayed pay?

Thinking what I said was that it sounds like a rough way to run a business. And, in business, Ages Recievables are a very common thing.
