Everyone I know buys the excide batteries. They're usually under $100/each.

while they are not cheap..Optima AGM are the best..have had mine (four of them) for TEN years with no problems..think they were around $350-400 each.

They are a different form of acid filled battery.

To those who want to know how I've lessen the cost of my batteries, I went to the Maxwell Starter module on almost all the trucks, I have not yet had an issue with starting, using the regular batteries for the body/sleeper and those have been fine so far. I am looking at Maxwell super caps to replace two of the batteries out of the three remaining in the future and right now using 6 of these caps as a starter battery in my beater car - no issues at all.

An Alliance/DEKA battery success story: yesterday afternoon around 4:30 I got my truck out of the shop with 6 new injectors, injector rocker arms, shafts, cups, runs great. Parked it at the XPO yard in Albuquerque, left the yard around 5:15. Got back there this morning to bring my Freightliner home for some seasonal changeover and cleanup, and discovered I'd left the truck and trailer parking lights on, all night around 15 hours.

I was concerned that my batteries would be too flat to get me started, but I turned the key on, waited for the full cycle, and cranked right up! 15 hours with lights blazing, fairly chilly @ 38 degrees F, no problem! Not bad at all, from my POV.

I'm now even more completely convinced, and in love with, the 725cca batteries, and even though these batteries are pretty fresh, about 6 months, I'm pleased with me DEKA batteries Really pleased - 15hrs!
