I picked up a load weighing at 44063 But when i scale this load with my tandem just a little past 41 foot Mark . the scale ticket shows tues four weights steers 11520 drives 32560 tandems 35140.
However I can't slide them
Back due to the states of ia, il and Indiana that I am routed thru to Milwaukee Wisconsin.
I also have 5/8 of fuel left in the tank and i can't mess with the fifthwheel due to my company's 12k steer weight limit so any advice would be helpful. Also going back to shipper is not a option as they have refused to rework the load so until I hear from my company I am just looking for advice so I can get driving again
Load is overweight

Slide them back and roll out. Being overweight is a guaranteed pull in and ticket vs tandems being a little bit janky.
MachoCyclone, Dominick253, rokue and 2 others Thank this. -
This is a big problem in this industry. Wait for your co to respond. Why wont shipper adjust load ?
Dominick253 Thanks this. -
Lets just say that the shipper says they have a certain way of loading trailers and that the loads are never over weight when they leave the shipper
I am currently sitting at a truck stop waiting for my company to give me a response on what to do nextDominick253 and Jerry12 Thank this. -
Just slide them back. You'll be fine. I've never had any problems in those states with my tandems being farther back than they should be.
Also if you are going to Milwaukee from Iowa you won't go through Indiana. -
Slide them back a coupla holes, put truck in gear, proceed towards destination. That is what I would do.
MachoCyclone, ncmickey and mnmover Thank this. -
I'm not seeing a problem, slidem and go. I have never had a problem with tandem length in those states.

you are allowed 43' from kingpin to center of rear axle in both WI and IN, in IL even more... Move them back 2' and roll on. I think you are misreading something, or I am?
STexan Thanks this. -
Iowa has a bridge length of 53 illinois has a bridge length of 42 ft 6 inchesand Wisconsin has a bridge length of 41 ft for trailers 53 ft long

Where r u located: why will Indiana be within your routing. State of Illinois, hwy's there max. kingpin length is 42.6' (42.6" should be Legal, Colo. tandem axle wt-40k)Last edited: Apr 16, 2016
