I would think the best source of info for these questions would be the company. Just call and ask.

If you have to do linehaul and you don't have a run to the same terminal and back every day/night, that is how I would probably want to do it. That way, you're doing all your own hookups and don't have to worry about the idiot coming from the other end on a meet-and-turn.

Yup that's what this guy does all terminal to terminal. I wouldn't wanna be gone 5 days at a rip but for the money I'd jump on it

Estes extra board/regional is a great alternative to the traditional OTR sleeper job. If you run nights and prove to central dispatch that you run hard and in a timely manner they will take care of you.

You'll average about 2500 miles a week and run terminal to terminal. The only down sides are that some of the trailers and dollies are not in the greatest condition but for the most part they are DOT passable.

Some of the terminals are less than desirable and way too small for their operation, South Bend comes to mind. You also have to watch out for the craters in some of the terminal lots, looks like asteroids that made the dinosaurs go extinct landed in the lots.

All in all, Estes is a great company to work for, extremely laid back, almost to a fault. Pay starts at $.53xx cpm with raises every six months to the top out rate of about $.6250 cpm and hourly top out rate of $27~ an hour + $7.50 for breaking and hooking a set on line haul.

If you put your nose to the grindstone and stay on the dispatchers good side, deliver freight on time, and run on your ten you WILL gross at least $75k+ with earning potential of up to $105k + vacation/benefits/401k etc.

Estes wild line haul would certainly be on my list that's for sure. I've thought about it my self.

Does anyone know what the "Regional OTR Driver" jobs consist of? Are these the linehaul guys who sleep in a hotel every day?

They run day cabs for the most part terminal to terminal, central dispatch will usually route you back home so you get home on your fifth day out unless you let them know otherwise in which case they will run you like a chicken with its head cut off.

I'm clearing 1000-1300 a week with them, so you can make some good cash with them as long as you prove to central that you're hungry to run. That means that you don't eff around at the hotel and can make a 300 mile load in 6 hours and not 10 hours like some of these clowns that take 3 hour naps at rest areas and then complain about crappy paychecks.

    rz14nj and speedyk Thank this.
