I don't think I'll ever own another detroit after my last one but amen on the single huffer cat. Are the 430/470 series 60's any different than the 500's? or is it just bigger injectors or different software in the ecu?

Some had different turbos and different injectors, detroit will tell ya a 430 wont go to 500, but it will go there and then some, there was a 430/500 rating i think. I have seen some heavy hitting 'troits, that blew through a 2250 clutch, its all in how you take care of them, they are way better than the cumaparts.

Glider kit is a complete new truck minus the drive train, meaning frame, cab, cooling system, wiring, etc - everything but the motor, trans and rears. Today only Freightliner, Western Star and Peterbilt offer them.

You order or buy the kit of your choice ready to accept the engine of your choice, then you install the drive train. There is a company that supports this forum that builds gliders with rebuilt components with warranty and offers financing as well. Many guys are moving this way to allow them the option of having a new truck without the new truck EPA restrictions, mostly 07 and later, which are giving lots of problems and poor fuel mileage.

I drove a KW w900A glider kit many years ago. I found it to be only as good as the people who put it together and the components they used. I'm sure things have improved since that '79 model. My point is - if you consider buying a glider kit that's built, be sure to do your homework about the history of the quality of the build and components used.
