Yes, if they like your application they will offer you a pre-hire which is contingent upon successful completion of the school and having the proper endorsements.
The plus for this is it gives you time to research companies and apply to the ones you like, then when you receive the pre-hires you have time to sort through them and pick one before graduation. This way you can set up an orientation with the trucking company you choose and start work at graduation.

Tons of companies in your area....
Usually the NC schools can give you the road test themselves and you get a certificate to take to the DMV and they issue the CDL...
I imagine it depends on the school but I know a guy that went to Davidson county community college for his class and that is what they did with him.

Where do you live? Maybe I can point you to a few outfits.

    Good luck!!

You are losing slipping up@Chinatown! Can't believe you missed Trans AM. They always recruited heavily in NC.

Hey gwar, I went to DCCC several years ago. The schooling is top notch. You will get plenty of time driving various trucks as far north as the VA border and possibly as far east as Raleigh. Go in with open ears and soak up as much info as you can. All the instructors can give you the DMV driving test at the school. The only thing you have to go to the DMV for is to get your picture taken. You will be driving a lot. The equipment is fantastic. They have some Volvo 780s, 670s, freightliner century and Columbia, Peterbilt 386 and some International daycabs for backing practice and several reefers, dry vans and pups. All are 10 speed. The actual yard isnt at the Davidson campus or the Mocksville campus. The coordinates for the yard are: 35.870665,-80.561479. You can plug that into Google maps to see where you will be spending all your time.

You will get 5-10 companies come in and recruit. Schneider, TMC, Maverick, Trans AM, Marten, G&P, Quality Carriers, CT, and a few others came when i was there. Remember, you have options outside of what comes to the school.

Any more questions I would be happy to answer. Good luck! :)

yeah I went to an info session and the guy took us over to the yard on like the 3rd day of classes and people were running the trucks around the yard, I really like the set up. The only problem is paying for the classes which I'm trying for the YVEDDI CSBG program, they (if I qualify) will pay for classes and any other expense while I'm going to class, but I really appreciate it and I will be asking a TON of questions!! :D
