bridge repairs across US

While I understand the context of the argument. I don't understand the sudden interest, other than that one bridge.

We've been under constant bridge reconstruction in our state, for over 10 years.

If you travel any of our minor state and federal highways. You'll see crews replacing older structures everyday.

 

what they need is equipment to be able to detect micro stress cracks. New equipment has been developed in order to just that. Sending electronic pulses threw the metal instead of an ex ray type deal. electronic pulse can produce the same image threw a computer program that reads those pulses..

Then we nee people who actually know what they are doing when inspecting these bridges.. Many inspectors take many short cuts just to get the job done.. We need a little accountability in being a inspector as well.. We need a little accountability throughout department of transportation as well.. Made me sick after that bridge fell you had to sit threw 3-4 minutes of "I would like to thank so and so" crap. Nobody was taking any accountability for it but they was thanking each other for killing people. They should of checked a bridge that was rated as such before they started to add all that construction weight. No accountability

 

there wern't enough big wheels killed on the I35 bridge to justify any repairs on any bridges elsewhere..

 

I gotta copy on what your saying Truckerjo. And if that hellicopter and all was so impressive why wernt they x-raying before the fatal collapse ?
Im stuck on the facts bout that bridge not built to specifications when brand new and in all the aftermath theres a political argument 2008.

 

I think they need to figure out a way (somehow) to fix or replace bridges faster. Its taking forever to do repairs and such. Not that I want them to rush, but there has to be a faster way.

In my town, they have been working on two bridges for over a year now. Its insane. On my daily route into Utah...I have no idea what the heck those crews on I84 are doing...some sort of concrete work all along the highway in various segments...taking off layers of concrete on bridge decks and pouring some red and black concoction down before putting asphalt down. one section of the project (not sure how many there are down there) is supposed to take two years.
