I was referring to some that lease from Penske and Ryder but I'm sure there rates are significantly reduced because of the volume they are leasing

I have only ever leased one truck in my life, it was a year and a half ago when we bought that 8 car ground load Sun Valley.
It was though Ideal Lease and I thought it was VERY expense, BUT it was based on mileage, and we ran a LOT of miles, and it was short term so I never considered the tax implications at that time.

What gets me mad about a full service lease is the additional cost pet MIle on top of the monthly payment. You're renting a truck made to move goods of course you're gonna put miles on it. I leased a reefer for my freight truck and on top of the milage rate they charged I had to pay for ever reefer hour. Clearly I'm on the wrong side of trucking

Probably just enough to pay your bills which is ridiculous for a car hauler.

Only way it makes sense $ wise, otherwise you can't get the lease outfits to compete for your business and get a full service lease for a lower price per unit. Shaw Industries comes to mind on this.

Out of curiousity I would love to know the unit number minimum where it makes sense $$$wise to lease and get the best rate. 100 units maybe?

    skinnyb01 Thanks this.

Ran the numbers with a friend today who does 5 and 6 axle dry van as a company driver now. Even with getting a favorable rate of $2.20 mile plus picks and drops running 3000 miles a week after its all said and done he pockets less than 5k a month to the business after paying himself.
