The quad five uses the same board as the anytone but it costs a lot more

 

Just was referring to the preference you stated for not wanting flashy, when the 955 is about as flashy as it gets.

 

You originally said flashy, lol. I said I regret getting suckered into the big watts hype of the 98vhp. It's an inferior radio to both the 955 and at-6666. Then you said - "but you just said you'll take the flashy 955.."

So I guess I still dont understand what you're getting at.

 

Either way... I didn't say I don't want flashy. I said I don't care that its flashy. I care about its ability. Can we move on?

 

I've heard of a lock up issue with the quad 5.

 

Had all kind of radios and so far i like the 955, it is not the most user friendly radio that i have ever had but bottom line i like it.

No i am waiting on another trucks to finally match the radio to my new Sirio 5K ant....

 

What kind of truck are you driving?

 

I currently have a Kw T470 but i am moving on to small isuzu and to my great pleasure the cab is all metal.

See i am trying to get out of the trucking gig slowly i am movin on to smaller and smaller all the time...

But in the last 20 years i had Kw only W9 and T6, i have learned to ground my stuff especially Kw products are notorious for poor grounding.

 

The 98's sideband issues stem from the typical Galaxy drift, and in the case of the 98 specifically, a non-linear amplifier. I suspect the 2970N2's amplifier is a lot better, and may be worth swapping.
