How freightliners are made

Makes you wonder...
Started raining last week, took a turn and almost 4 gallons a water fell on the dashboard, steering, floor, whatever was down the windshield.

Water fryed a couple of electric devices. Took it to the dealer and they told me they dont seal them anymore. From factory they are placing the windshield on tracks and glue the little rubber frame outside the windshield.

Once that cheap rubber "seal" is damaged, or dryed water start leaking everywere.

 

I thought a stork would be involved.

 

Eventually everything will be made in China or Mexico.

Wife and I were talking. We're thinking it wont be long before they start building factories in Cuba and out sourcing in Cuba as well. Would make sense. Less shipping costs from Cuba to here than from China.

Nothing American will be sacred as long as corporate greed is involved.

Unfortunately it boils down to us at the consumer level. Why pay $5k for a bigscreen TV that was made in the US or Canada when you can buy one made in China for $2500? As much as I want to see more manufacturing done here domestically I just can't see people wanting to fork out more money to purchase products made here.

 

Sad but true.

I am but a small minority that will happily pay more for American quality.. vs foreign trash.

If you did a 10% tarrif a lot of things would still be imported. The price increase wouldn't be double.

 

I've toured the Freightliner plant in Portland, OR back when they were churning out 40-50 trucks a day. 2003 I think it was. Cool place. I think they only make Western Star and some other more obscure product lines owned by the Daimler group (was DaimlerChrysler at the time). I think they've since shifted a lot of production to Mexico which is a big boo in my book.

 

I wish I had a snappy comeback.

 

If California gets their way well all be driving Chia liners.

 

I too want things to be brought back to American workers. But to do that, we must first CUT TAXES. That is what is hurting the American worker. Corporate tax rates that are the highest in the WORLD. We also tax monies made in other countries by companies who are based here. NO other nation in the WORLD does this at the rate that we do.

The only GREED here is from our elected representatives.
