Actually Gordon Trucking grows theirs. On I-90 you will see the Gordon Freightshaker Farm. Thousands of Blue Cascadias all planted in rows at a Shaker Farm.

Greed is with everyone and anyone who can find a slice of the pie. Its become the American way. Not just with govt.. we all play a part.
I'm as guilty as the next. I like my bank accounts flush, and if I have to underbid and cut rates to get it, then so be it.

misterG Thanks this. -
The problem with this logic is who pays the tariff. Also there are already 12000 tariffs in effect now, do we really need more?

Thinking like this is what makes some trucking almost a not for profit game. I woudnt brag about this type of mentalityjohndeere4020 and Mudguppy Thank this.

Now, I didn't mean to imply that Greed was a four letter word to all. Though it certainly is to many people. Who seem to have forgotten that its what makes the world go round.
And is often the impetus to strive for a better life, regardless how that is defined.
I also like a flush bank account. Helps me sleep at night, knowing the wolves are at bey for a while.spyder7723 and Hurst Thank this. -
His thinking is called COMPETITION.
Its what weeds out those who have no business being in business in the first place.
Knowing your bottom line at all times, and striving to beat it over the long haul is what keeps the smart ones working and kills the steering wheel holders who should have stayed company drivers.rocknroll81, haycarter and Hurst Thank this. -
I'm Surprised no has even mentioned Consolidated Freightways formed and owned freightliner till 2003.

I used to think like you when I first started.
One day you will look at the money you make, versus the time you took to get it and realize that they are screwing you and you're handing them the lube.
You don't big account if you run less and pick better paying loads. You buy less fuel and maintenance then.
According to OOIDA which I consider an half way legitimate source states the average driver makes 34-40 cents a mile. if you take the median amount that's 888.00 for an 2400 mile weeks. If you figure five days which is 120 hours that's 7.40 an hour. wal mart is 10.00 an hour.
Why do you think they are always needing drivers ?Terry270, Mudguppy and fordconvert Thank this. -
You comprehend my post as bragging?
I made a statement,.. nothing more.
Besides,.. what I do is my business. My profit point is low enough to where I can take a lower rate when needed and still remain in the black.
Its dog eat dog out here,.. and I will survive. <<<< Thats bragging.
Hurstspyder7723, misterG and tommymonza Thank this. -
The way I understood it was he underbids the next guy just to be the one to get that load. Doing this drives load rates down. That's not competition that what a swh would do. Its called working for fkall.
-
You're wrong. after a few years you've spent all your time in a truck looking out at the same roads, parking in same pizz smelling truck stops, being bothered by the dot police, hauling the same cheap freight for people who
wouldn't worry with you if you wasn't working for less than anyone else will.
