The way I look at it,.. if I have to be out here and away from my home then I am going to grab as much work as I can for as much as I can.
I get as frustrated as the next guy when rates are too low or freight just isnt moving. How ever,.. eventually the wheels need to move. I didnt make it this far sitting around waiting for nothing but top choice loads.

If I can profit from a lower rate than what you can,.. it is indeed competition. Tighten your belt is all I can suggest.
HurstBoardhauler and spyder7723 Thank this. -
I work the way I am comfortable. I dont do anything I dont like or want to do.
That said,.. I have an agenda and goals to meet. I work as hard as I do now so I wont have to do it later.
I plan to retire at age 60. I will pack away as much cash between now and then (12 more yrs) and enjoy the fruits of my labor while I am still healthy enough to do it.
What you do is your business. Do not expect me to follow your path,.. I have my own.
Hurstspyder7723, misterG, Brettj3876 and 1 other person Thank this. -
Your dog eat dog and you will survive saying is about as terrible as your first post I didn't agree with. And you call that bragging. I don't need to tighten my belt because I work to set rates as high as possible not to adjust them to were your working for peanuts. I guess that's were you seperate the people that work for good money from they people who just work to work. You don't need to agree with what I say but if you haven't realised at the tender age of 48 that the key to making money is to work less for more then you probably will never graduate to high paying loads because your always busy undercutting them.
Maybe something to think about before you make your next post on how your part of the problem not the solutionMudguppy, SL3406 and Not_Here_Long Thank this. -
Not trying to argue with you or hurt your feelings,.. but I have reached a point in this business where I honestly do not care what you or the next guy haul for. Your profit margins to not cover my bills or support my family.
I know what I need to make to turn a profit. If I undercut you and help lower rates,. I honestly do not care. I hauled for a rate that was profitable for me. If thats hurting your business model then perhaps your business model needs to be adjusted.
I am not out here to change or modify the system. I dont care about politics, I dont worry about other peoples business, I dont care what other people think of me. I am not out here to find drinking buddies to hang out with. I am out here for my family, doing the best I can with what I have.
I have found my own solution. What I do is working for me. I will not change how I do it for you or anyone else.

The first freightliners were rebuilds, consalidated had a great shop and would buy used trucks take them to the shop do a rebuild, top to bottom ,front to back and put a frieghtliner emblem on it. They have an early one at the truck museum by the, Iowa 80,

The only business model that needs adjusting is the one that undercuts and lowers freight hauling rates and justifies it by telling himself that a slim profit margin is better than none or how I don't care about anyone else but myself because it's all about me me me. Stop telling yourself that your not here to change or modify the system when clearly your poor managing skills are changing and modifying the system for the worst.
I woudnt worry about my feelings . Remember im the one here that works less for more and tries to keep the few niche markets away from people like you that want to work for small to no profit because the mentality of if I undercut cut this guy and that guy and hope to god that all goes well then at the end of the week it was almost worth it. -
Honestly not worried.
You can keep working less. I will keep working more and hauling the loads you wont,.. all the while smiling with each deposit in my bank.
HurstBoardhauler Thanks this. -
There was no insults it was mostly just factual. I really doubt we will agree on much so you should probably get to bed that way you can start off fresh and early underbidding your next load in the morning. Don't worry about my loads as well because in my line of work the contracts are awarded to guys like me or some of my friendly competitors and if none of the guys in our "group" don't want the load because we see a slim profit or no profit to be made. We would be glad to give these leftover loads or as we call them cr@p loads to you but only after we make you compete with others like you just to keep cutting the rate putting more money in our pockets and less in yours. So if ever your in Ontario and need another load barely worth doing leave your name and number and I would be glad to give you our less profiting leftovers

You honestly do not know as much as you think you do. Especially not about me.
If your business model and freight are so great, then do not worry about mine or what I do. Like I said,.. I do what works for me. I do not care what you think about it.
